Burning Man is an event that is held annually since 1986 and takes place at Black Rock City, Nevada. It is a temporary city that is erected each year within a few days with over 70,000 participants from across the world. In 2015 and 2016, I had the opportunity to work on two projects with a team of friends from conceptualizing, designing, fabricating, planning, and building. The challenge was to overcome the harsh climate of our site, ensure safety for all participants, and leave absolutely no trace at the end of the project cycle. Luxx Torr is a light tower that was built for the art camp as a way for the community to locate the camp grounds from far away, especially at night. It also served as a viewing tower during the day where participants climb up the unique, spiral, staircase to make their way to the top.
